Resources ----- - -------------------------------- From the Editor’s Desk The month witnessed the horrific murder of brave journalist Gauri Lankesh. She had been a strong critic of Hindu Nationalist, RSS politics. She was a strong follower of Basvanna and Ambedkar and held that Lingayats are not a part of Hinduism, it is a separate religion. Her murder was on the pattern of the brutal killings of Dabholkar, Pansare and Kalburgi. The killers coming of motor bike, killing the victims and running off! These murders have been due to the spread of strong Hindu right wing ideology, which is accompanied by hate of the dissenters, labeling them as anti-Nationals. This trend has promoted the culture of violence, which earlier had led to the eminent writers, film makers to return their well earned awards. The same ideology has lead to the phenomenon of lynching’s, particularly of Muslims, on the pretext of Holy cow. The same ideology has led to the flogging-killings of dalits dealing with cow skin and others related to cattle trade. While murder of Gauri Lankesh is clearly on the same pattern as that of earlier one’s of Dabholkar and others, her brother who was ideologically opposed to Gauri has been misdirecting the blame to Naxalites, saying that she was killed by them as she was engaged in brining Naxalites to mainstream. The ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims has led to UN expressing its concern. It has issued an appeal to India to not to expel the Rohingyas who have taken shelter in India from last some time. The Hindu right wing is converting the humanitarian issue into the one of national security on communal grounds. The fate of lakhs of Rohigya’s at the hands of the Government of Suu Kyi, the Nobel Laureate, is a matter of shame.
