Resources Book Review Shadow Armies: Fringe Organisations and Foot Soldier of Hindutva Interview with Ram Puniyani by V.B. Rawat -- From the Editor’s Desk We are seeing the worsening of conditions in Kashmir as Government is insisting on not having dialogue with dissidents. We are carrying a small report by citizens who travelled the state for ten days. It points out “A large section of people in the Valley see action by security forces as ‘acts of vengeance’ to force people to subjugation…” We also witnessed the attempt of the government to go soft on terrorists involved in Malegaon, Hyderabad blast cases. The result is that two allegedly involved people Swami Aseemanand and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur have been given bail. The statement from a civil rights group points out, “After the RSS ruled government came into power, the investigative agencies have given clean chit to the Hindutva terrorists who were in jail under the charges of bomb blasts and terrorism.” India has seen plethora of Godmen mushrooming all over the country. How they promote the Hindu nationalism becomes clear from the statement of Morari Bapu. Last month, May 2017, at a Ram Katha-Manas Shankar held in Kedarnath, Morari Bapu has been quoted as saying that ‘three years of the Modi regime’ are the best that India has seen and this is so much contrary to the reality. The RSS beef politics is marching unabated. On 28th May Sunday evening, around 60-70 students of came together for a discussion on beef ban issue where cooked beef was also distributed at Himalaya lawns in IIT Madras. They were attacked and one of them had to be given serious medical attention. We carry a report of that. We are also carrying a brilliant poem ‘Soap and shampoo only feed your ignorance/ not my stomach.’, in response to dalits being given soap and shampoo before Yogi Adityanath’s visit in a UP dalit village.
